The Research Advisory Committee Large Equipment Competition

This is an opportunity for Department of Surgery faculty to request funding for large equipment. Requests may be submitted for equipment that would be beneficial to multiple researchers within the department. The maximum amount allowed per request is $40,000.

Please submit the following information by December 1, 2009 to the Surgery Research Office, Emily Hamilton knaggs@umich.edu.

1. A complete description of the item including vendor brochure and price quotation.
2. An overall justification describing the need for the equipment, including how the equipment could enable investigators to be more competitive for external research funding.
3. A listing of all investigators who will utilize the equipment, including the frequency of utilization.
4. A brief description of the research to be performed by all investigators related to the equipment.
5. Description of the proposed location of the equipment.
6. Maintenance of the equipment would be the responsibility of all the investigators. A description of the plan for future maintenance must be included in the request.
