Surgery Education NewsAmerican College of Surgeon's Meeting 2005For the fourth year, Dr. Michael Mulholland, Chair, Department of Surgery, sponsored 13 medical students to attend the American College of Surgeon's Meeting in San Francisco, October 16 - 20, 2005.
The American College of Surgeon's Division of Education invites students from all four years of medical school to attend the Clinical Congress to participate in a program designed specifically for medical students interested in pursuing surgery as a career. The program began on Sunday, October 16, with a welcome luncheon, orientation, and keynote address. A special afternoon session on career options in surgery included presentations by a dozen surgeons representing different specialties. Topics included selecting residency programs; preparing for a surgical residency; considering options for surgical practice in the community, academe, or military; balancing professional and personal commitments; reforms in surgical training and scientific advances that will change the practice of surgery in coming years. Receptions each day provided plenty of time for interaction with faculty, other surgeons, residents, and students. Once again, it was a huge success!!!
