The location of your surgery will depend on several different factors such as who is performing your surgery, the nature of your surgery and your health, and whether your surgery is being performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis. At your initial consultation, your surgeon will recommend the location for your particular surgery. Possible locations for your surgery are:
University HospitalUniversity Hospital is the Health System's hospital for adult patients. The 11-story, 550-bed hospital first opened its doors in 1986. Three other hospitals have preceded today's facility, including Campus Pavilion Hospital, which was housed in the residence of a former professor, the Catherine Street Hospital and the old Main Hospital. Each facility has been larger and better than the one before it, expanding and moving forward to meet the constantly changing needs of advanced patient care and medical education. Today, 70 percent of University Hospital's patients are admitted from communities or regional hospitals outside the Ann Arbor area. In its 1,796,262 square feet, the hospital houses diagnostic equipment, clinical laboratories, operating rooms and inpatient and intensive care units. Mott Children's HospitalThe Mott OR team endeavors to deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients and families in the perioperative setting. They promote the UMHS Vision Statement of "Patients and Families First." Mott Children's Hospital Take a virtual tour of the Mott OR and Recovery Room Livonia Surgery CenterThe Livonia Surgery Center, located at Haggerty and Eight Mile Road, is a beautiful 15,000 square foot facility with four fully equipped operating rooms and one procedure room located within a 40,000 square foot clinic building. Their goal is to provide cost-efficient, excellent care in a personalized setting. Directions to the Livonia Center for Specialty Care Chelsea Community HospitalA limited number of surgeries are performed at Chelsea Community Hospital. Cases most likely to be scheduled at this location are lymph node mapping and removal of skin cancer lesions. Directions to Chelsea Community Hospital East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatrics CenterThe University of Michigan East Ann Arbor Ambulatory Surgery and Medical Procedures Unit at 4260 Plymouth Road is a wonderful choice for patients seeking outpatient surgery and endoscopy procedures. The center offers four rooms for endoscopy procedures and six fully equipped surgery suites. The brand new beautiful 49,000 square foot building is adjacent to the East Ann Arbor Health Center and offers patients a convenient location and free parking. Outside and indoor walkways provide an additional convenience for patients who need to go from one facility to another.
