Dr. Frankel worked to clone and modify a T cell receptor gene targeting the melanoma associated antigen tyrosinase. This gene was placed into a retroviral vector for transduction of peripheral blood lymphocytes from patients with metastatic melanoma. His lab is beginning production of clinical grade virus for treatment in a Phase II trial.
