K. Barry Deatrick, M.D.
Undergrad: University of Michigan Med School: University of Michigan Academic Development: Vascular biology, vascular remodeling, thrombosis and hemostasis Dr. Deatrick investigates mechanisms of vein wall remodeling following deep vein thrombosis. He is interested in how the inflammatory reaction resulting from vein thrombosis results in the remodeling of the matrix of the vessel. Currently, Dr. Deatrick is investigating the role of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) by comparing the inflammatory reaction in MMP-2 and MMP-9 deficient animals with controls. Future projects include the role of Toll-like receptors in leukocyte trafficking in thrombosis-associated inflammation, and an investigation of the SLC chemokine pathway in vein wall inflammation following thrombosis.
