biography

James T. Broome, M.D., is a Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Endocrine Surgery, Section of General Surgery. Dr. Broome graduated Magna Cum Laude with an A.B. in biology from Harvard University in 1999. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2003. He then completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Broome is the current Norman W. Thompson Fellow in Endocrine Surgery.

Dr. Broome's' clinical interests are in surgical diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreas. He is particularly interested in the use of intraoperative hormone monitoring for parathyroid surgery as well as the familial component of endocrine neoplasias. His academic interests include the clinical management of thyroid and adrenal malignancy, clinical outcomes, and medical education.
